Purpose of this Blog

So on a whim I decided to start this blog today. Although I question the need for another blog when there already so many on the web, I am doing this primarily for my own benefit. Many times, when my thoughts are swirling around in my head, it is incredibly helpful for me to get them out on paper or talk to someone about what I am thinking. The purpose of this blog is based on Paul's prayer for the Ephesians, "I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us to believe" I pray these things for anyone who happens to come across this blog. Vulnerable with God

God wants you to be real with him”  That is a word I got from someone several years ago after a very difficult period of time. For someone who liked to fade into the background and pretend that everything was okay when it really wasn’t, this was a bit difficult to swallow. I was used to the idea that God wanted my obedience but I didn’t think that he really wanted to be close to me.  In the garden, God walked with Adam and Eve. He talked with them and they knew him on an intimate level. They were naked and felt no shame. After the fall, man began building walls around their hearts by using their own efforts to attempt to reach God.  What did God do? He built bridges to reach the heart of man, namely through the person of Jesus who came to show the world that God still longed for that same intimacy that He had in the garden and to bridge that chasm between God and man which seemed insurpassible.  In some ways, we still try to build Towers of Babel to ...

The Ultimate Adventure

I do not usually like to share my journal entries with anyone, but I thought that this one was appropriate. It is my first entry in a journal that I received after I graduated which says "Use this journal to reflect on the Places You Will Go" referring to the Dr. Seuss book. 12/29/2014 Writing in a new journal is always exciting. There is certainly something about that blank page and getting the chance to fill it with thoughts and words. I wonder if God feels that way every time a new child is born? It is also unusual for me to be starting a journal two days before the New Year instead of afterward as another resolution. Anyways, believe it or not, I am currently trying to find the most comfortable positions for writing in a journal while in a sleeping bag...in my bedroom at home. Yes, I just set up the tent I got for Christmas in my room along with the sleeping bag and pad. I am also reading with the help of my very useful headlamp. (Okay so yes I am a little weird, bu...
